LONDON (Reuters) – Queen Elizabeth will receive new US President Joe Biden and other world leaders ahead of a summit of the major G7 economies in Buckingham Palace in June, the Sunday Times reported.
The Sunday Times described it as a “soft power” reception, saying the Queen would be accompanied by the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The palace declined to comment on the report.
Britain has announced plans to hold the first personal G7 summit in nearly two years in Cornwall, south-west England, in June. Prime Minister Boris Johnson hopes the meeting will lead to a consensus that the world economy needs to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic in a pro-free and sustainable manner.
